Stefan Bereswill is an infection biologist and professor for Experimental Microbiology at the institute of Microbiology, Infectious Diseases and Immunology at the Charité Hospital in Berlin. By heading the Charité research group for Gastrointestinal Microbiology his research interests are focused on host interactions of enteric pathogens and intestinal inflammation with a focus on the development of animal models for the investigation of Campylobacter infection.
At the Charité laboratories for clinical diagnostics he completed a five year practical training in medical diagnostics of bacterial pathogens including infection epidemiology and received a certificate for medical infection biology from the German Scociety for Hygiene and Microbiology (DGHM). Besides research and teaching, his current activities include the organization of scientific meetings and he is member of editorial as well as scientific advisory boards.
